Galashiels to: Edinburgh
Lots of tight bends, lots of sweeping corners, lots of straights which guarantees you can pass the caravan club member of the year. I had great fun travelling this route. No speed cameras on this section (that I can recall) and the road surface is pretty good all round with the the high grip surface on the tight corners.
Better still is if you travel south on this route, join the A68 a few miles East of Melrose and head south towards Cambo. If you're not crazy you can have great fun through the borders but beware of the speed cameras. There are no speed cameras once you get into England but be cautious of the blind summits, there have been fatalities on this road at some of these points (no motorcycles that I've heard of). Other than that champion.
Still more fun if you turn off the A68 onto the A696 taking the exit for Otterburn, take it slow through Otterburn then let rip to Morpeth.
Battle to: Ninfield
A gorgeous Road with little sign of any coppers. I sometimes use this route on my way home from college. I don't go that fast as I have a CB125TD C. But if I get enough money I would get an Aprilia RS250 and try out the twisty section at ashburnham place. Alternativly turn left at the first junction you come to from the green section of road (If you think I am color blind then you are wrong, the roads are colored at a change in limit. Handly the road at these markers is layed with high friction asphalt like at most zebra crossings so you will be able to give it some stick from the markers ith out worring about wheelspin).
Nr Staines to: Nr Staines Lap
Get on the A30 at the M25 heading for Egham. The dual carriageway follows the M25 for a bit. You'll see signs saying 50 MPH right hander. Slow down to about 90 ish, BEWARE the corner is completely blind so take care during busy periods. The corner goes though about 270 degrees down hill. Come down to a roundabout mind the bumps on the middle of the road. Take a right at the roundabout. Up the hill and back down again to a roundabout do a u-turn and the lap begins again. Have fun.
Bedford to: Somewhere near Peterborough (A1)
I first rode this little blinder back in 1986 when I passed my bike test and have never tired of it. Coming out of Bedford past the Golf centre on your right there is nearly always a speed trap, so take it easy until you see the G.L.F (go like f..k) sign. You start off with a tight right hander and then swoop downhill- watch for blind car drivers at the jct at the bottom of the hill. This road consists of many 90 deg. bends but all are visible and the land is mainly undulating. Because of these it is a cracking place to learn how to get your knee down. In one of the tiny villages there is a primary school right by the side of the road so PLEASE keep your speed down thru there folks. When you reach the T- junction at Kimbolton turn left and through Kimbolton itself. Immediately after the village turn right and carry on, the road becoming a litte bumpy in places. Cross over the A14 on the flyover and turn right at the T jct. After Old Weston turn right at first jct (this is easy to miss!) and carry on. Enjoy until the A1 and turn round- the road is very different the other way as some bends have non constant radii!
